Use the District’s current corporate-service route
The District of Columbia’s corporate registrar is the Corporations Division of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection. Its current guidance directs corporate services to BOSS, formerly CorpOnline. Begin with the department’s official page to reach the live service and any account requirements. Check the file number, registered entity and report history rather than relying on an older portal name or a commercial directory describing a Washington business.
Distinguish registration from permission to operate
DC corporate registration and business licensing are separate processes. An entity appearing in the corporate register may still require the appropriate licence or other registration for its activities. DLCP’s online resources provide routes for both kinds of enquiry, while its registration FAQ explains the corporate record and filing functions. Save the specific licence and corporate results independently so that one document is not presented as proof of matters covered by the other.
