Use the Wyoming filing ID to resolve identity
Wyoming’s Secretary of State provides a business search using an entity name or Filing ID. The identifier is especially useful when a business has changed its name or when several results share common words. Examine the entity type and recorded information before linking the result to a website, invoice or proposed counterparty.
Read filings instead of relying only on the search list
The Business Division links to filed documents and other entity services, while the official FAQ explains document-copy routes. Name-search guidance has a separate purpose when someone is proposing a new business. For an existing company review, keep the actual filing history and relevant current evidence together rather than treating name availability as proof of formation or good standing.
