Include inactive Kentucky entities when appropriate
Kentucky’s Business Entity Search lets users review documents filed with the Secretary of State. A search restricted to active entities can omit the dissolved or inactive business involved in an older transaction. Remove that restriction when tracing a historic supplier, and compare the organisation number with the name on the relevant document. The filing history is more useful than a single current label for reconstructing a sequence of changes.
Date the officer or manager information
Kentucky also offers a separate officer, member and manager search. Its guidance states that the listing reflects the last annual report, and it does not cover every kind of organisational role. Treat a matching person as a recorded connection at the relevant filing date, then inspect the company record. Online services provide additional record and copy functions; they do not establish that a person currently has unlimited authority to bind the business.
