Choose the filing for the correct period
Annual accounts should be matched to their reporting period, entity and filing version. A document uploaded later may be an amendment rather than a new year’s report. Confirm the period end, currency and whether the statements cover the company alone or a consolidated group before extracting figures for comparison or due diligence.
Explain omissions without inventing missing numbers
Companies House accounts guidance describes the UK filing framework, while SEC EDGAR provides financial filings for covered issuers. Investor.gov explains the structure of a US annual report. These systems do not guarantee identical disclosure: where a document omits a statement or line item, describe what is available and obtain additional information from the company if the decision requires it.
