The certificate records the formation event
A certificate of incorporation documents the creation of a company under the relevant law. Its name, number and date are useful identity anchors, but it is a historical formation document. A company may later change its name, enter an insolvency procedure or cease to exist without the original certificate becoming a description of its present position.
Pair formation evidence with a current check
UK incorporation guidance explains the formation process, and the official document service can supply certified material where required. Compare that evidence with the current Companies House record before using it in a transaction. For overseas use, ask the receiving organisation which version and authentication it requires rather than assuming that every scan will be accepted.
