Use the Québec identifier to avoid name ambiguity
The Québec enterprise register allows a search by the numéro d'entreprise du Québec, commonly called the NEQ, as well as by name. Entering the identifier helps distinguish businesses that use similar names or several operating names. Review the entity's registration status and the recorded particulars in the result rather than relying on a copied company description. The NEQ belongs to the Québec registration system and should not be confused with other tax or federal identifiers.
Choose the appropriate file when requesting evidence
Older records may involve the Fichier central des entreprises and its own file number. Québec's document-copy procedure distinguishes those historical references from the NEQ used for current registry files. When formal evidence is required, request the appropriate copy or certificat d'attestation and use the accompanying certification-verification service where available. The registrar's attestation concerns registration information; it is different from a Revenu Québec attestation used for particular tax or procurement purposes.
