Use the Costa Rican legal-person identifier
Costa Rica’s Registro Nacional includes the Registro de Personas Jurídicas, responsible for registered acts concerning legal entities. The cédula jurídica provides a useful reference when a business name is ambiguous or has changed. Start from the official online-services gateway and select the legal-person consultation. A company’s recorded legal identity should be matched to the counterparty named in the transaction rather than to a shop sign or informal trading label.
Choose between a consultation and a certified document
The Registro Nacional separates online consultations from the purchase and verification of digital certificates. Use the available record to determine which formal evidence is required, particularly where the question concerns legal representation or a registered act. Keep the electronic certificate in its original form and use the authority’s validation route where appropriate. A name search is a way to locate the record; it does not replace the specific certificate requested by a bank, court or contracting party.
