Compare the Jamaican registration number and address
The Companies Office of Jamaica provides searches for registered companies and business names. Government guidance recommends checking the entity directly before a transaction, using its name or registration number. Compare the returned address and recorded details with those supplied by the counterparty. A business-name registration and an incorporated company are different records, so establish the legal organisation behind the trading identity before interpreting a matching search result.
Validate a COJ document at its source
Jamaica’s official guidance explains that COJ digital certificates and documents include verification features such as a barcode or QR code. Follow those features only when the destination is the genuine issuing service, and compare the result with the document received. The COJ validation facility is distinct from a general company search. A valid corporate certificate proves the matters it records; it does not establish that an investment offer or financial promise is authorised.
